Sarah Hosts The Digg Reel!

Last week I let you all on a little secret: that Revision3 missed me enough to ask me to guest-host an episode of The Digg Reel. We even took some behind-the-scenes footage during my visit! Well, the episode's been released, so I'm posting it now. Grab some popcorn and enjoy the show!

I'm telling you, hosting a program in the very pajamas you rolled out of bed in that morning is an ever-so-satisfying affair. If you enjoy this episode, will you kindly re-post it and share it with everyone you know, everywhere? Nothing would tickle me more than Revision3 having to admit that I, the talented and employable Sarah Lane, continue to bring them spectacular traffic. BITCHES GET THINGS DONE. DEAL WITH IT.

Love,

Sarah "popSiren, small p big S" Lane

25 Random Things About Me

If you're a Facebook user, you've likely been tagged in a note from a friend listing off random things about themselves and asking you to do the same (it's kind of an epidemic, really). But because so many of you aren't my Facebook friends yet, I figured I'd cut-&-paste my contributions here.

**I (lovingly) stole Veronica Belmont's idea of cheating on the rules of this exercise by not tagging anyone. So many people have tagged me that I got overwhelmed, but I still want to play. Below are the rules I'm rebelliously not following:

FACEBOOK RULES: Once you've been tagged, you're supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.

(To do this, go to “notes” under tabs (+) on your profile page, paste these instructions in the body of the note, type your 25 random things, tag 25 people (in the right hand corner of the app) then click publish.)

1. When I was a kid, I thought I hated lasagna and wouldn't eat it for years. Bizarre.
2. My eyes are green, but they sometimes look hazel or gold. Bright green if I cry.
3. In 3rd grade I wrote a mean thing in another kid's yearbook and got in trouble. I was trying to be clever, but he was really hurt and I still feel bad about it to this day.
4. I'm the youngest member of my family who still has the "Lane" surname.
5. I have an obsession with symmetry... for example, the way eggs are arranged in a carton.
6. I'd rather be funny than pretty.
7. I love going to expensive open houses and imagining where I'd put all my things.
8. I can't decide if I love beer or wine more. I think it's wine. I think.
9. As an only child, I have to remind myself that it's not always my way or the highway.
10. I love rainy, cloudy, windy, stormy days. They have personality.
11. I find it very challenging to get through a novel these days because I'm always online.
12. I need 8 hours of sleep per night in order to feel amazing.
13. I love performing on TV, but public speaking frightens me.
14. I'm not crazy about the color blue.
15. One day if I'm really lucky, I'll have an outdoor hot tub among redwood trees.
16. Sometimes I wonder if my wanderlust will ever let me truly settle down.
17. I'm extremely jumpy. I don't know why.
18. I hate it when people ruin The National Anthem with showoff vocals.
19. I was a cheerleader in junior high.
20. My favorite feature is my long eyelashes.
21. I'm uncomfortable playing team sports. I think it's fear of failure/letting people down.
22. I make my bed every day.
23. I have a hard time saying no.
24. My most prized possessions are photographs of people I love.
25. Pizza toppings should always include artichoke hearts.

I feel the need to point out that while I enjoyed this Facebook exercise immensely, I've been making random lists about myself for YEARS and categorizing them under "Lists I Made" here, on this very blog. Peruse the category archives, and enjoy! Or just feel sorry for me and my oversharing problems. I'm totes cool with either.

Behind the scenes of The Digg Reel

Recently, the folks at Revision3 asked me to guest-host an episode of The Digg Reel, which I was happy to do since I had so much fun guest-hosting the first time. I hadn't been back to the studio since I was laid off back in October, and I was a little worried beforehand that once inside I'd feel wistful or sad, but such was not the case at all.

Everybody was fawning over my little Flip HD and we shot a few soon-to-be-Oscar-nominated documentaries, like this gem below. Yes, I hosted the entire show in my cat-print pajamas. THAT'S JUST HOW I ROLL, DEAL WITH IT.

This episode airs on Monday, February 2nd, at 3 PM EST/12 PM PST. Should be pretty funny. Plus, don't miss the opportunity to see my very first wardrobe-malfunctioning nipple slip! Ok fine, that's not even remotely true. I do promise to drop the F-bomb, though.

THIS WEEK in FUN Episode 3!

As I promised on Twitter, here's video from Martin's and my latest episode of THIS WEEK in FUN (TWiF). Click the image below for the full video.

Sarah Lane & Martin Sargent: TWiF 3

Leo and the TWiT team don't have the resources to edit and host our TWiF episodes just yet, so the awesome folks at odtv.me have been archiving them for us. The only problem is that the start/stop time of the show is a little off since we got going later than expected and weren't telling anyone exactly when to hit "record". I'll figure out a way to rectify that in future shows.

But here's the good news: we've gotten so much positive feedback and requests for more, regular episodes of TWiF that we're going to try to bring the show to you on a weekly basis, starting this Friday, January 30th, at 3 PM PST at live.twit.tv! Set your calendars, bitches! And hey, thanks for the support! I'm really pleased with the response so far.

For those of you who can't tune in to watch the live feed (which is ideal, but not always possible), I'll work on some sort of external harddrive>video transfer>show post method for TWiF 4. Suggestions are welcome!

Want to check out other TWiF episodes?

Sarah's First Flip HD Video

Thanks so much to the Flip folks for sending me a unit to review! It's small, it's sleek, and while it's no Canon 5D Mark II, the quality's still pretty great for the size. Can't wait to take it outside and test colors. $209 at Amazon!

I also caved and bought myself a year of Vimeo Plus ($60) so that I could embed HD videos here. Turns out that with Vimeo's basic account, the only place you can watch HD videos is on that video's page at Vimeo, which is totally unacceptable to me if I'm embedding that video elsewhere. Why shoot in HD if you can only embed in SD? Anyway, I've upgraded. You win, Vimeo. Good thing I like your service so much.

Here's my second Flip HD video, shot outside and ribbed for your viewing pleasure.
