Sarah's First Flip HD Video
January 26, 2009Thanks so much to the Flip folks for sending me a unit to review! It's small, it's sleek, and while it's no Canon 5D Mark II, the quality's still pretty great for the size. Can't wait to take it outside and test colors. $209 at Amazon!
I also caved and bought myself a year of Vimeo Plus ($60) so that I could embed HD videos here. Turns out that with Vimeo's basic account, the only place you can watch HD videos is on that video's page at Vimeo, which is totally unacceptable to me if I'm embedding that video elsewhere. Why shoot in HD if you can only embed in SD? Anyway, I've upgraded. You win, Vimeo. Good thing I like your service so much.

So that flipcam seems pretty cool. After 60 minutes of footage can you get the video off the camera so you can keep filming? Like maybe to a usb drive, or do you have to have your laptop there? Still seems pretty sweet though!

I have a Creative Vado HD camera, it is similar to Flip HD, but is a little better
I just picked up the Flip HD a couple of weeks ago. Love it! I'm pretty sure you can embed HD quality video on either YouTube or FaceBook.
You're so lucky they sent you one! I've been wanting one forever, but at least I can live vicariously through your videos. Just kidding... not really :( :(

When I bought it it was about half the price, but about the same quality. You should check it out yourself. The Aiptek A-HD doesn't have a 60 minute limit like the Flip HD does. I put a 16GB HCSD card in mine and I can record for some 8 HOURS! Batteries are pretty cheap and easily found for it too. :)
Sarah, I hate to undermine your tea proficiency, but you're seriously oversteeping that sencha! Most vendors sell a sencha that is super delicate and shouldn't steep for more than two minutes.
But hey, if you're enjoying it the way it is – great!
Two minutes, Jay?! I don't know, this sencha really benefits from soaking for about 3 minutes in hot (but not boiling) water, at least to my tastebuds. Then again, maybe I'm just a caffeine addict? :)
