Back in Biz

I just got a new phone after a saddening hiatus from my secret life as the Textamerica Unablogger. This roughly means that the photos are a'flowin once again in my picture box! Hooray!

Check out my new ride. It's cute like a bunny.

BTW- Last night was the first dry St. Patrick's Day I've had in at least 10 years. I'm quite proud of myself.

Listen to your breathing.

I don't want to preach the gospel of yoga to you, because I know how annoying it is when someone talks about how "amazing" and "spiritual" and "fabulous" a form of exercise is (especially if you aren't participating). But I really do believe that if you're looking for better posture, circulation, flexibility, muscle tone, and inner peace... then yoga is your calling, man. It took me quite some time to stop being bored in classes and letting my mind wander during breathing exercises. Now that I've accepted I live a fairly high-stress lifestyle, I realize I need regular healing from the inside out. And if you're doing it right, you truly are working hard. Plus, have you ever noticed how good it feels to get into bed after an hour or two of big-time stretching?

Shoot, I sound like I'm preaching. Sorry. I guess I'm just happy to have found a very positive force in an often tumultuous existence. I doubt this is new information to most of you anyway. Yoga seems to have shed a lot of that new-agey stigma and gotten more widespread acceptance as of late. Hell, I got Kevin in a class last week. That's progress!

On a somewhat related note, I'm planning a trip to India. If you've got helpful knowledge for me, leave a note. Or tell me how crazy I am and how hot and dirty it's gonna be and how much I'll hate it. Lots of people already have. I'm still going.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

I just got back from a whirlwind trip back East for work- 4 flights in 3 days. And as much as I've always loved flying for its ability to get you far away fast, I'm pretty much done with planes otherwise. I think they're hazardous to our health.

Question- what's the protocol for shoes during the security scans at airports? Sometimes they make me take mine off and run them through the machine, sometimes they don't bother. It's a little irksome.. I mean, just pick one. I also had the pleasure of being on one of those new United flights where you have to pay for your meal. This is on a 5.5 hour flight, mind you, where clearly you're gonna want to eat (and expected to the whole time, which is why you didn't pick up a snack before boarding). Isn't that just weird? It's not like they've bumped up the quality on the food and you're paying for the good stuff. This is standard plane food, folks, it's just that now you'll need $10 to participate.

Ok, so I'm mad at planes. But trains are another story. I love trains.

Yesterday in Detroit, Eileen and I rented a Jaguar with an OnStar GPS system. It wasn't really that much more to upgrade from a standard mid-size vehicle, so we did. And oh my! This Onstar system is INCREDIBLE. We typed in our destination address and a soothing voice began giving directions. She already knew our starting point and calculated the two together perfectly. I know she wasn't a real lady, but I pretended. Yeah, I'm a little late to the game on this one!

Time to get horizontal and watch something.

PS- I loved "Big Fish"... rent it soon.

I know you want to know...

...so here you go.

Playboy Deets

Believe it or not, I had no idea TTV/Playboy had even gotten this far. It pays to snoop around! Stay tuned, as I will be.

Red Velvet & the Like

I've never been hugely into Valentine's Day, but through timing and circumstance, I've almost always had one. So when I think about how lonely a fabricated holiday such as this may seem to otherwise happy and functional singles, the bitterness makes sense.

However, there was no bitterness yesterday, as I enjoyed the nicest Valentine's Day in memory. I'm sure Kevin wouldn't appreciate all the little details being shared in print, but I will say that he's one romantic fellow. I think I got the very best apple in the whole orchard, folks! And guys, remember that the beach is always a good idea.

Anyway, I was just looking at my jewelry case when I came upon one of my favorite pieces and realized I have yet to share the source... Kris at Mimosa Studio was kind enough to share some of her work with me recently, and it's utterly fabulous. Yes, I just said utterly fabulous (it's jewelry so I'm allowed to).

Her site is still in progress, but if you're interested her collection, give her a shout. BTW, she's cute too.

I also got a Valentine's card from my dad yesterday. I think I can safely say he'll always be my #1 Valentine. Thanks, Pops.
