New Chapter Musings

Well, this is it.. my last day at Attack of the Show! Even my desk is all packed up (except for all the crap I didn't want to pack up which is still sitting in a dusty pile for the next victim to inherit).

I've been getting a ton of questions about my depature from G4, my marriage, my world tour, stuff like that. So I thought I'd address a few of your FAQs here.

Q: I understand you're getting married, but why leave the show too? Why can't you have both?

A: Now that Brendan and I are officially growing up and beginning the rest of our lives together, our priorities are changing, too. Going on a world trip is an opportunity most people never have, so we consider ourselves part of a small, very lucky tribe. Obviously, when you go away for over a year, TV goes on without you. And that's ok. I'm proud to be choosing personal enrichment over a paycheck for a little while. Life's for livin!

Q: Where will you go?

A: We're going to be trekking through over 20 different countries. The first six months are already set in stone. We're planning out the second six as I type! When that's finalized, I'll post the details here.

Q: How will you keep in touch with your fans?

A: It starts here at "sarah. word." Which will be going through a facelift very soon, btw. I'm really stoked to experiment with a variety of media as a way to keep in touch with you, whether it be travel tales, photos, video, even podcasting. Some of this stuff will be completely new to me (I believe I've been quoted as saying I'd never start a podcast.. whoopsie), and some techniques will undoubtedly prove more successful than others. It'll be an ongoing project and learning experiment, and a challenge I'm thrilled to take on!

Q: Will you miss Kevin Pereira?

A: Yeah. Kevin is a good friend of mine. I really love that guy, and I thank him for being the best damn co-host ever. I also have no doubt he and I will keep in touch, so I refuse to say goodbye to him. :)

A special shout-out to the folks at AOTS and X-Play (gotta represent the OGs), and everyone in makeup, wardrobe, in the control room, and on the studio floor. These are the people who worked hard every day to make my job look easy. Thanks for the memories, amigos.

Anyway, Brendan's my last AOTS is just a couple hours away, so I better go eat some cake. I'm pretty sure the studio crew members have bets riding on whether or not I'm gonna cry. Tune in for all the fun!

Peace!

All the News That's Fit to Print

First off, I realize that this is April 1st. But I assure you, the following is not a joke...just very coincidental timing.

I'm delighted to fill you all in on some extremely exciting news. I'm getting married! Those of you who follow AOTS, my moblog and the SarahCam may have already figured out that his name is Brendan Moran. Yes, that Brendan Moran. We've known each other for many years through TechTV and then G4, and our timing has finally worked out. Without getting too sappy on y'all, I'll just say that when you know, you know.

Brendan and I will be tying the knot in mid-May, in a beautiful spot not too far away from where I grew up. About ten days later, the two of us will be en route over the Atlantic Ocean, embarking on what could be considered a super-extended honeymoon that will span several continents and last about 13 months. I've always, always wanted to travel the world, and now I'm lucky enough to do it with him by my side.

So... it's with mixed feelings that I announce both Brendan's and my departure from Attack of the Show. We're starting a brand-new chapter of our lives and have both agreed that there's no better time to satisfy our wanderlust than as newlyweds! It's pretty much the coolest first year of marriage I could imagine. Somebody pinch me! Actually, don't.

G4 has known about our plans for some time now, and the company has been truly supportive toward our future endeavors while they've auditioned for our replacements. Though I haven't personally met the folks they've chosen, I've heard really good things. You'll get to know them soon.

I hope you all continue to support the show, the awesome production team behind the show, and the new additions to the show. A fabulous group of talented people work on both sides of the AOTS camera. Even though I've decided to move on, I believe in them all and I'll be rooting for their continued success. I've been extremely lucky, have had unbelievable opportunities, and I'm sorry to say goodbye to a lot of true friends. But they're always welcome to come visit Brendan and me out in Siberia for New Year's Eve! Wooooooo!!

Yes, I'm kidding. I believe we'll be in southern India.

Anyway, that's the scoop. Never one to be away from a computer for long, I'll be blogging regularly throughout our adventure with the Macbook Pro, and Brendan and I will both be shooting as much video as we can from some pretty amazing locales. So this really isn't much of a sayonara after all, my friends, just some good news in the continuing Sarah Lane saga. Or should I say the Sarah Moran saga? Many more details to come...

Happy Birthday/Xmas/Batmitzvah to Me...

I know it's late March, an annual wasteland for presents and cheer, but this month might as well be a super cool holiday... because I've just been crowned the proud owner of my very first Apple computer! Boy is it a looker. XP suddenly seems so ugly and cold. I think I may have spent all that time poo-pooing OS X just to cover up my feelings of extreme inadequacy. Good god, what am I saying?

On this frightfully early Sunday morning, I'm thrilled to report that the following choreographed performance is the Best Thing Ever.
