The many faces of an inauguration.

Red Bull gift store in Crawford, TXI'm unabashedly watching inaugural coverage on TV all day, although I'm always most moved by still images, rather than video. Speaking of, here are some great AP photos that Gawker.com collected and posted.

This is a good day. Not that I expect Barack to move mountains or anything, but I was sick and tired of "W".

Screw this crap!

Oh, wait just a minute... I forgot how AWESOME Obama is, and I'm not kidding.

A toast I say, a toast to America!
That poem really did suck, though. Here's one I wrote a few years ago that's better (although it's a little contrived):

Heaven on Earth
by Nathan Robinson

Across the ocean never ending,
Searching for a dream.
Wishing over waters pending,
Fertile fields of green.
Believing we would find a land,
To reap and sow with our own hand,
A paradise for every need.

Across the ocean ever sending,
Fighting for a dream.
Courage under pressure rending,
Patriotic victory.
Not afraid to take a stand,
To make a nation pure and grand,
A paradise forever free.

America to find the way!
America to win the fray!
A paradise for you and me...

Okay, I know it rhymes, but call me old fashioned, darn it all.

I spoke to a man today a Russian Jew who emigrated to the US from Israel. He was scared, very scared for his family his loved ones the people he cared about.

He said Obama/Bush the same promises, promises and more promises, politics as usual.

While I hope for the best (and from the bottom of my heart I wish him well) I feel Obama's only claim to fame will be that he was the first African American President - he is no Jack Kennedy (who incidently was as corrupt as a politician can get) and he certainly in no way shape or form is Ronald Reagan - who was probably the greatest president in the last 60 years, I will even go so far to say he is no Bill Clinton.

Call me silly but my heroes have always been cowboys.

To the cynics out there, I would remind them that Barack Obama presents himself in a rather magnificent manner. I hate to judge a book by its cover, but at the end of the day, charisma is a pretty good indicator of political performance. Obama is extremely intelligent AND charismatic, so I see no reason why he wouldn't perform admirably in his role as president. I'm fairly optimistic about this, really. Times are tough, I'll admit, but necessity is the mother of invention after all.
