I'd like your help.

I'm trying to come up with a list of songs that do a lot of counting within the lyrics. Such as "I'm a Wheel" by Wilco ("one-two-three-four-five-six-seven-eight-nine"). I know it's a random request, but hey, THIS IS WHAT I DO.

Thanks for putting up with it.

Your pal,

Sarah

"This Old Man;" of course; "One Two Three," (two different songs, one by Gloria Estefan, one really old from the 'sixties); "Forty-Nine Bye-Byes" (CSNY); too late to think of more, but they're out there, I know. Good luck with this.

When I was three I used to have a Sesame Street record with a song by The Count. All he did was count. Sure he is a one trick pony but who doesn't like a counting vampire? While never as big as Bert's "Doing the Pigeon" or Cookie Monsters "C is for Cookie" I still liked it and to this day I can't count without saying "ah, ah, ah" between numbers. "1, ah, ah ah. 2 ah, ah, ah. 3 ah, ah, ah"

Hey Sarah!

One of my favorite songs of all time is a song by Dave Mathews Band called: Typical Situation. It doesn't have the numbers in sequence (like maybe in the sesame street song) but it has a cool poetic account of the numbers ten to one.

Ten fingers counting we have each,Nine planets around the sun repeat,Eight ball the last if you triumphant be,Seven oceans pummel the shores of the sea.... (chorus)Six senses feeling,Five around a sense of self,Four season turn on and turn off,I can see three corners from this cornerTwo's a perfect number, butOne!Well everybody's happy, Everybody's free,We'll keep the back door open, everyone will come around.

You can listen to the song at:http://www.imeem.com/astrozombie/music/WSfNgjRa/dave_matthews_band_typical_situation/If you don't have an imeem account... yer crazy and you hate music :D

P.S. Don't forget the holiday classic "D*%k in a box" from SNL. A classic in the making!

Hi Sarah,

Haywood Banks does a song called 18 Wheels (on a big rig), that does more counting than you would ever want.
