My cats do the same thing. Their water dish is constantly filled with fresh water, yet they'd rather drink from the faucet.
my kitty witty does the same thing. except in the bathroom. no bowl is good enough for her to drink from. she's a demanding one. and I just let her be that way. I am a sucker.
Pedro looks like a Maine Coon. Our kitty, Pickles, is a Maine Coon (at least part) and he LOVES dripping water. He's also very vocal and will cry out when you pick him up, put him down, very much as if you're hurting him (we're not).
Maybe this is a common disposition of the fuzzy wuzzies?
I think Laura's on to something. I had a maine coon that did the same thing, only in the bathroom. He even trained me to turn it on for him whenever he wanted. Maybe try moving Pedro to the bathroom?
I'm another whose cats do that too, except in the bathroom. Piper has trained me to turn the tap on at trickle-to-taste and Lydia has learned it from Piper. There's a cat fountain in one room and a bowl of fresh water in another, and they prefer the bathroom sink, even though the faucet is so low they practically have to stand on their heads to do it.
Count your blessings with Pedro -- Lydia gets into the kitchen sink with the express purpose of hooking a claw in the drain basket and flinging it onto the floor. Once that's done, she's outa there.
Turn the faucet on full blast cold, he'll move. If that doesn't work, full blast hot.

Pedro is a cutie! Lots of cats like running/dripping water. Do you have a regular water bowl or a fountain? We have had a fountain for our cats for more than 5 years. We called it the 'fountain of youth' at first because our oldest cat seemed a lot healthier after we got it and we suspected she was drinking more water. We started with the Drinkwell, which drips the water and is a bit noisy. Now we have a PetMate FreshFlow. The water comes down a ramp/slide thing and it's pretty quiet. The nice thing about using a fountain is that it filters the water (usually with carbon), recirculating the water is supposed to oxygenate it and flowing water encourages your cats to drink more, which is good for them.
Pedro is a Maine Coon? I have a stray I take care of who looks exactly the same! Also very vocal, long fur and that huge bushy tail. He looks like a wild cat.
I'm not sure what Pedro is. I would have guessed Norwegian Forest Cat, because my old cat Luther was one and Pedro has almost identical markings and fur length/patterns. But Pedro has a rounder, flatter face. I'm just not sure! He's a beautiful cat. I love his white belly.
Mine both like the bath tub. If that is not trickling, the dip in to the toilet. Thought only dogs did that... Nope, my cats do too. And their water bowl always has fresh water.

My cat did the same thing for a long time - we later found out he was diabetic - we had to take blood every day and give shots - not saying your cat is sick, but be aware
