New Chapter Musings

Well, this is it.. my last day at Attack of the Show! Even my desk is all packed up (except for all the crap I didn't want to pack up which is still sitting in a dusty pile for the next victim to inherit).

I've been getting a ton of questions about my depature from G4, my marriage, my world tour, stuff like that. So I thought I'd address a few of your FAQs here.

Q: I understand you're getting married, but why leave the show too? Why can't you have both?

A: Now that Brendan and I are officially growing up and beginning the rest of our lives together, our priorities are changing, too. Going on a world trip is an opportunity most people never have, so we consider ourselves part of a small, very lucky tribe. Obviously, when you go away for over a year, TV goes on without you. And that's ok. I'm proud to be choosing personal enrichment over a paycheck for a little while. Life's for livin!

Q: Where will you go?

A: We're going to be trekking through over 20 different countries. The first six months are already set in stone. We're planning out the second six as I type! When that's finalized, I'll post the details here.

Q: How will you keep in touch with your fans?

A: It starts here at "sarah. word." Which will be going through a facelift very soon, btw. I'm really stoked to experiment with a variety of media as a way to keep in touch with you, whether it be travel tales, photos, video, even podcasting. Some of this stuff will be completely new to me (I believe I've been quoted as saying I'd never start a podcast.. whoopsie), and some techniques will undoubtedly prove more successful than others. It'll be an ongoing project and learning experiment, and a challenge I'm thrilled to take on!

Q: Will you miss Kevin Pereira?

A: Yeah. Kevin is a good friend of mine. I really love that guy, and I thank him for being the best damn co-host ever. I also have no doubt he and I will keep in touch, so I refuse to say goodbye to him. :)

A special shout-out to the folks at AOTS and X-Play (gotta represent the OGs), and everyone in makeup, wardrobe, in the control room, and on the studio floor. These are the people who worked hard every day to make my job look easy. Thanks for the memories, amigos.

Anyway, Brendan's my last AOTS is just a couple hours away, so I better go eat some cake. I'm pretty sure the studio crew members have bets riding on whether or not I'm gonna cry. Tune in for all the fun!

Congrats on you and Brendan for having the guts to go on such an adventure. Most people would give and arm or leg to in the positions you both had and may even think you're crazy for leaving the show. (Of course most of these people have no idea what it is really like behind the cameras..lol) But you guys are doing something great…grabbing life by the b@lls and throwing caution to the wind. Each day is going to be different and you both will grow as you not only learn about the world, but each other. Be patient, laugh, and know you both are experiencing something that few will ever.

Best of wishes to you and Brendan, sounds like it will be quite an adventure. I hope you both find your back to the spotlight in the future, as you're both wonderful television personalities. If nothing else, you'll have to guest host AOTS ONCE in a while. Cause I'm gonna be hungry and in desperate need...of some Feed.

I have traveled to the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong (Chinese still need a passport to go to Hong Kong.), Japan (been here 3 times already and I lived there for 2 years after college. It’s a must visit.), France, London, Spain, Italy, Greece, New Zealand, Africa, Germany Costa Rica, Jamaica, Russia, and Australia.

Your so right Sarah, life is for living. Life moves pretty fast, if you don’t stop to smell the roses every once and a while, you could miss it.

I've been watching AOTS for about a year now. The funny thing is I don't even have G4, so I've Bittorrented all of the episodes from as far back as June of last year. I don't think I've missed a single episode... aside from the couple weeks we went without power down here. (Florida hurricanes for ya.)

Sometimes you just don't realize how important something is in your life until it goes away… even the smaller things. Sarah and Brendan, hosts of a mere tech/entertainment television show that I just happened to watch everyday, suddenly not there anymore and MARRIED no less (out of nowhere!) and to my surprise, I found myself quite emotional. I was genuinely almost to tears when I saw the last episode. It’s quite the feat to hit me on that level. I’m aware that it IS just a television show, and yes, you may really just have been hollow avatars of your TRUE selves when in front of those cameras… but the truth is you guys were there practically every day and helped me get through a particularly rough time in my life. The show was something I looked forward to watching everyday. And when you have something, even as small as your show, that you actually look forward to everyday, it makes the day seem not as bad as it may really be. You guys were a big part of that, and the show will never be the same without you.

Congratulations on getting married you two! (Seriously some left-field stuff there!) I wish you two the best of luck, and I hope you find whatever it is you’re looking for in this new step you’re taking in your lives. Live, love, and be happy, guys.

i know a LOT of people posted, but i figured i'd post too.. i'm gonna miss the smart little Sarah that would keep Kevin in his place on AOTS.. don't get me wrong, i love the guy, but it's always nice to see how the leash you had on him was obvious at all times. you'd never control him, but he's also never be out of your control.. hope to hear from you frequently!.. and eventually come back to G4, cuz the way you deliver the news is the ONLY way.. i may go as far as emailing G4 telling them to have a cardboard cut-out of your face on whomever assumes the position.. i'll miss ya.. now back to watching reruns of AOTS the run through the weekend.. :)
